The Starting Point

Where an eBay AU Store Sits Before Anyone Can Find It

A store can be perfectly well run and still be invisible. Before this 90-day window the account was being surfaced a fraction as often, and the traffic it did win was not converting.

Working back from the percentage changes eBay reports, the prior 90 days looked like this:

  • Roughly 212,000 impressions, against 829,607 in the period that followed.
  • Around 748 listing views in total, a number a single good day should beat.
  • About 65 units sold across the full 90 days.
  • A click-through rate and conversion rate both well below where the catalogue should have been trading.

Two separate problems were stacked on top of each other. The listings were not being shown to enough buyers, and the buyers who did see them were not being convinced. Fixing only one of those does not move revenue.

What We Changed

How We Took an eBay AU Store to 829,607 Impressions

The work split along those two lines: buy and earn far more visibility, then make sure the traffic landed on listings built to convert.

01

Rebuild the Listings to Be Found

Impressions are won before any ad spend is committed. Titles, Item Specifics and category placement decide which searches a listing is eligible for at all.

Organic impressions rose 165.4% to 270,266 over the period, which is the part of the growth that costs nothing to keep.

02

Scale Promoted Listings Deliberately

Promoted Listings went from roughly 110,000 impressions to 559,341, a 407.3% increase, and ended the period carrying 67% of all visibility.

The point was never volume for its own sake. Campaigns were structured so spend concentrated on the listings that could convert the traffic once it arrived.

03

Fix the Conversion, Not Just the Traffic

More impressions only pay if the listing closes. Click-through rate improved 38.2% and sales conversion rate 68.8% across the same window.

That is the difference between an account that burns ad budget and one that compounds: the same traffic is now worth substantially more.

04

Let the Data Decide the Split

The source breakdown told a blunt story. Promoted Listings traffic converted at 12.1% while organic traffic converted at 0.1%, so 106 of the 109 units sold came through Promoted Listings.

Organic still matters, and it grew, but the budget followed the channel that was actually closing sales rather than the one producing the most page views.

The Outcome

90 Days of eBay AU Growth, Measured in Seller Hub

Across the 90 days to 9 August, every headline metric in eBay Seller Hub moved up together, which is the pattern that matters. Visibility, engagement and conversion rising at once means the growth is structural rather than bought.

“I had been running Promoted Listings for a while and assumed that was that. EcomVengers showed me the traffic was going to listings that could not close it. Ninety days later the impressions are up nearly 300% and the conversion rate has gone up with them.”
